It surprised me when he said that grandpa owned the HVAC company until he showed signs of Alzheimer’s and that’s when he took over the company
Over the last year, I had been noticing signs that my dad was having some kind of mental problems. Dad was forgetting a lot of things and remembering things that never happened. He wanted me to call my grandma and grandpa, who had been dead for almost twenty years, and invite them for Thanksgiving. It was the beginning of a new year. I worried I was going to lose my dad if he didn’t get the right help. I knew it was time to call the doctor and have him assessed. When he stood out in the yard last week, I asked him what he was doing. He told me he had called the HVAC company to have the furnace repaired. We lived in the south and didn’t need a furnace. I asked him which HVAC company he had called. He looked down that street and said he had called the one. There was an HVAC service van coming down the street. From the moment he saw it, he was flapping his arms and waving for the HVAC service van to stop. When the driver saw him, he waved and kept going. Dad smiled and told me that his dad always slowed down and waved to him when he was in the HVAC service van. I didn’t know grandpa was an HVAC technician, so I called my uncle. It surprised me when he said that grandpa owned the HVAC company until he showed signs of Alzheimer’s and that’s when he took over the company. I thanked him for the information and when he asked why I wanted to know; I told him about dad. I knew he was tearing up; he told me that if I needed any help to let him know.
