Change isn’t easy and this was quite evident to me after my father passed away. He had been my rock and always there when I needed him. As a kid, mom left and we only had each other. My dad never remarried though he dated a few times. It never seemed like he got over my mom which was a little heartbreaking to watch. After high school, I had to head off to college and got admission for a school hundreds of miles away. Dad had insisted I go there to learn to be independent which I later found out was the best thing he did for me. In my late 20s, he fell ill and I had to move back home to take care of him. Dad’s death hit me hard and it took time for me to adjust to being alone in the house. I recall one morning when I woke up drenched in sweat because the AC unit had stopped working. I wasn’t sure when last the AC system had been serviced so I had to find an AC worker to take care of that. I got up, took a shower, got dressed and went to call an AC business I’d been told about. I had heard good things about this AC business one time when I asked a neighbor for a recommendation. But being so busy, I forgot to call them to come and service the unit. Now time had passed and it seemed the unit was failing due to neglect. The AC expert they sent did confirm that the AC unit was failing and the best thing to do was install a new one.
