It could be an issue with the ductwork

When people have HVAC issues, they usually assume that there is something wrong with the HVAC system itself.

  • For example, when the air conditioner is not producing as much cool air, we tend to believe that there is an issue with the refrigerant or with the actual air conditioner.

When the house doesn’t feel as warm as it should in the winter, we blame it on the furnace. However, next time you have an issue with your HVAC system and can’t figure out what the problem is, consider getting your ductwork checked. People often neglect the maintenance of their ductwork. It’s out of sight and out of mind. However, there can be many HVAC issues caused by the ductwork. For instance, if you do not clean your ductwork, dust and allergens will build up in the ducts and decrease the air quality in your home. Oftentimes, ductwork can also get beat up and leaks may begin. When there is a leak in your ductwork, the air will escape from the ducts before it ever circulates through your vents. Therefore, when you are not feeling a strong flow of warm or cool air from your HVAC system, it is probably related to your ductwork. This also will cause your HVAC system to exert extra energy to try to compensate for the loss of air, which can result in bigger problems. Make sure to cover all your bases and have your ductwork cleaned and checked regularly to avoid any larger HVAC problems.
