When I decided on a career in the cooling industry, my mentor advised me to attend as many conferences as possible to learn more about air conditioning. I would participate in conferences where different speakers experienced dealing with quality air conditioners. Sometimes, the conferences would have practical sessions where we interacted with the quality HVAC equipment to learn how to do air conditioning repairs or HVAC installations. I built a network of friends and professionals who were on the lookout for air conditioning companies who were looking for recruits. Within three months of building my network, I was offered a job as an a/c serviceman. The second week after I joined the company, we held a conference, and my boss was the speaker. Hundreds of recruits and experienced workmen were at the conference, and we all benefitted from listening to my boss. He had opened the company when he was just 21, and now it was worth millions. He created many jobs for professionals. The company has helped millions of homeowners improve their air quality. Its air conditioning providers have provided homeowners with many multi-split air conditioners and thermostats and created hundreds of jobs for air conditioning technicians. It took my boss and his partners a lot of work to build the company into what it is today. I would know I had made it when I was given a chance to lead a conference and speak at it, but first, I would want to know how to carry out HVAC maintenance on my own so I know how good I am. I was determined to be the best in my field; to achieve that, I would learn from my seniors.
