I recently read an article that many people refuse to install window a/c units because of the way they look.
I was surprised that this was the number one reason deterring people from purchasing window air conditioner units.
I personally thought that the number one reason would be the loud noises that window a/c units tend to make. I totally understand that asethtics plus appearances are actually important to people in their homes however it is shocking to me that some individuals care more about appearance than indoor comfort. The guy who wrote the article said that instead of having ugly, clunky window air conditioner units he decided to install ceiling fans in all rooms. Sometimes ceiling fans can be helpful to cool down the house, however if it is severely tepid plus humid a/cs are the only relief for that. She stated that he would rather sweat than have something as ugly as a window a/c unit in his home. To keep his family cool, he opened windows, put all the fans on, used cooling towels plus stuck his head in the freezer as needed. She avoided window a/c units so much so that he went to the lengths of not using the oven or stove top in the summer time plus only eating cold meals. Personally, I would rather be comfortable in my own apartment than have a particular asthetic. Everyone has peculiar preferences in their home. I suppose lucky that I have central air conditioner so I do not need to worry about the appearance or sound of window a/c units.
