We had the best summer last year since we went on vacation.
It was nowhere fancy, but it was time away with the family.
We chose to go two states over and rent a lake house. Along came my brother and his family. It was so great to be together after two years apart because of the pandemic. The kids had the most fun swimming, fishing, paddle boarding, hiking, and kayaking. This spot was recommended to me by a friend and it turned out to be great. We were there for two weeks then went back home. Soon summer gave way to fall and then fall to winter. It was time to get warm and we had to turn on our furnace. We have a gas furnace that was installed about 5 years ago. It’s served us well after replacing an older heating system that failed. The reason we went with a gas furnace was it’s much cheaper and energy efficient. About 3 weeks after turning on the furnace, we started to notice the house getting cooler. The furnace was blowing less warm air into the house which had us puzzped. By the time we contacted an HVAC professional to take a look, the furnace had stopped working. We had to rely on space heaters for 2 nights to stay warm. Eventually, the HVAC professional came by to inspect the faulty furnace. It seemed we had forgotten to call for furnace maintenance and now there were a few things to replace to have the heating system working once more. Thankfully, we only needed furnace repair and not furnace replacement. We didn’t have money for a new furnace and losing the heating system would have been devastating.
