I know that we are all super happy with the weather situation right now as we cruise into the year’s ends, and that’s because the weather is perfect and the temperatures are pretty close to that benchmark as well, but it’s winter and where I live, we all care about this time of year.
The main cause for that is the fact that we aren’t all dripping with sweat and trying to manage the heat and humidity levels that affect us all for more than 6 weeks a year, then during our winter, the heat pump gets a little rest because it is not a superb deal of heating demand, however still, it won’t be long before Spring season starts to show up and the temperatures begin to rise.
This is respectfully when the air conditioner turns on and the heat pumps come to life, by late March, I can step outside and hear a chorus of heat pumps producing air conditioners for the entirety of our town! And for years, I’ve done the same thing. As soon as the temperature got into the upper seventies, I reached for the thermostat to flip it over to cooling. But this year, on the sage advice of someone who had lived with this heat and humidity their whole life, I’m doing something slightly different. This Springtime I’m not reaching for the thermostat as soon as the temperatures push up into the eighties. Instead I’m going to just leave it off until we are much closer to summer. This allows our body to gently adjust to the heat and humidity a whole lot more, not only does this then result in less of a need for air conditioning but the heat and humidity are not quite as overwhelming either. So I’m looking forward to this current approach and I’m also looking ahead to saving a bunch of money on the air conditioner costs.
