She thought the HVAC tech looked suspicious

Do you have any nosy neighbors? For the most part I love being in this part of town.

It’s very quiet, mostly families and retirees, without a lot of traffic.

The one thing about this community that I don’t like is Miss Ethyl, the little old lady who lives on the corner. A few years ago Miss Ethyl started the Neighborhood Watch program, but she only did it to have an excuse to spy on her neighbors. Miss Ethyl is a shrew and a busybody with too much free time on her hands, and I don’t like her at all. Last weekend she tried to issue a parking violation to the HVAC repair tech who was working on my system. The HVAC tech showed me the ticket, which was hand written on a piece of paper, with utter confusion on his face. I tore up the ticket and explained about my crazy neighbor always trying to start trouble. When the HVAC tech was gone I walked over to Miss Ethyl’s house and had a stern chat with her. She said that the HVAC tech had looked suspicious to her, and she was just keeping everyone safe. I said to Miss Ethyl that she was totally off her rocker, and that the HVAC contractor van parked in front of my house did not look “suspicious” at all. It would be one thing to keep an eye on someone that actually looked suspicious, but this guy was an HVAC tech wearing a uniform and driving a van with a logo on the side. How on earth is that suspicious?
