The last thing on our minds when we first retired was sitting in a sunroom.
My wife and I got to retire a few years early so it was all about doing all the stuff we wanted to do outside.
We weren’t too worried about sitting around in the HVAC. Both of us lived all our lives up north. However, the winter and the constant huge heating bills were getting to be too much for us. As we got older and older, the more the winter beat us down. It always seemed like the gas furnace was running all the time and yet we were never really super warm. That’s why when we retired, we upgraded the HVAC equipment, sold the house and moved to the South. This really was the best choice we could have possibly made at the time. Sure we missed friends and some family. Yet we’re still able to visit and they come down to enjoy our wonderful winter. But we do pay a bit of a price in the summer with four months of extreme heat and humidity. Yes, there’s plenty of HVAC cooling from the heat pump for us to manage. Over the years, we sort of acclimatized to the summer heat. It was easier to get accustomed to than we thought. But the years have gone by and we’ve enjoyed every single minute. However, we are slowing down a bit more and spending a whole lot more time in our sunroom. It’s wonderful to be able to sit out there in comfort when our bodies are not exactly ready to go for a long walk or something. So now we have a ductless heat pump inside the sunroom so we can enjoy it throughout the heat of summer.
