I had noticed that the air quality at the house was reduced with each day.
I found an open window in the lounge area and thought that was the cause.
Several days later, I was still facing the same issue. With that came more problems, including water paddles near the electric heat pump. I also noticed that the unit would make weird noises while on. The temperature regulator stopped working. It would display the wrong reading, which confused us. The vents would rattle whenever the HVAC system was on. I changed the AC filters and even upgraded them to HEPA filters to ensure they trap any pollutants, but the issue was only half solved. When I could not take it anymore, I called the air conditioning company and scheduled an appointment with the air conditioning technician. The quality AC service revealed leaky ductwork. Since the AC setup, I never had any cooling expert inspect the vents, which is beneficial for any unit, even the commercial air conditioning unit. They found some condensation caused by the hot weather plus poor insulation. The professionals worked on the vents, using a water-based mastic duct sealant to seal the ducts. They are the best as they clean up easily and last long. The techs showed me how to apply the sealant with a paintbrush. The air conditioning professionals advised on the frequency of changing the filters and checking the ducts to ensure the unit functions optimally and is as efficient as a new install. Summer has been great so far, and my house has excellent indoor comfort that all my guests compliment when they visit us. Another way to know a leaky duct is by putting your hand over the vents. There is an air leak if you feel the air against your hand.
