The heating technician and all of my HVAC technicians on my team were very confused by this incident.
The strangest thing happened to a customer’s hot water boiler, and it seemed unexplainable. I own an HVAC shop that specializes in furnace and air conditioner repair services. We want our customers to have the best indoor air quality they can have and help with indoor comfort. We have had a number of cases that were strange but explainable over the years, but this most recent one tops all. A customer named Sally walked in and told us her hot water boiler was no longer working and she really needed it to work again. We sent one of our heating technicians to her home to inspect the boiler. Upon inspection the heating technician discovered that the hot water boiler heating system was completely emptied of water and instead full of garbage. I didn’t believe the story until I went to the customer’s home and looked into the hot water boiler myself. Inside the boiler was all kinds of trash like chip bags and plastic containers and old food. The smell was almost unbearable. The heating technician and all of my HVAC technicians on my team were very confused by this incident. Sally proposed to us that she thought her neighbor, who really did not like her or her hot water boiler, may have done this. She said that her neighbor was jealous when she got a new hot water boiler because they only had an all electric furnace. Sally has never done anything to provoke her neighbors to ruin her hot water boiler, but she said they’re kind of crazy and might have destroyed the boiler unprovoked. The boiler case went to court and it turns out that the neighbors thought that if they cannot have a nice hot water boiler that Sally shouldn’t be able to either.
