Honestly, I can be a bit of a chicken sometimes.
- I get anxious or paranoid about things in life, and my fear makes me act irrationally.
I can be neurotic and absolutely aggravated when I let my brain get the best of me. This is one of the things I struggle with, living alone these days in my own little home. I love living alone – there’s not a a single person to tiptoe around or worry about being annoying. I can count on the house being clean when I come home; life is less stressful. However, there is one time of year that makes me genuinely scared – winter! Winters here are certainly brutal. It’s below freezing every day, with unrelenting snowfall and plenty of ice. This means worrying about your indoor heating, cooling and ventilation system, mostly. You don’t want your forced air oil furnace failing miserably when you’re in the middle of a polar vortex. Or, would you rather have the furnace fail in a blizzard, when the nearest heating and cooling specialist can’t get to your home? You absolutely don’t want to be all alone if there’s a heating failure – or else you have even less heat to comfort you. This is my greatest fear each year as the freezing season approaches. That’s when I remind myself not to be afraid – just be proactive. I call my local heating and cooling tech and they make sure my oil furnace is in superb shape before the first snowflake falls. Thank goodness for my trustworthy heating company – otherwise I’d certainly have to live in the South.
